Talk Listen Create

A music projecT promoting empathy in the square mile we live in

About

1 mi2 is the latest project By musician Stergin. it seeks to make deeper connections across communities in a time of division. Conversations with people living within one square mile of the artist in SE London inspired 3 new songs that tackle their personal stories.

Our society is drifting apart. The endless stream of information on our devices makes it harder and harder to distinguish fact from fake news. Sometimes it seems that everything has lost its meaning.

The project has aspirations to grow beyond a square mile in South East London and patch artists across multiple square miles from all over the world.

Initiative

We are looking for musicians from all countries of our planet who will follow the 1 mi2 process. They will interview someone in their own square mile & write a song using this as inspiration.  All the interviews and songs will be shared on this website in the People section for everyone to explore. The aim is to turn it into a physical exhibition once we received 50 songs.

If you're an artist interested in participating please download info here.

People

Please treat this section like an exhibition. Take your time, maybe explore it with someone together, have a drink & have a proper listen of the interviews and the songs.

Portrait photos by Nora jenewein.

If you can, please also consider buying the songs on Bandcamp. All proceeds go towards the continuation of the project.
